Big Elk Creek Crossing Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

rflester: This situation landed all of a sudden: The Powers That Be suddenly decided that this bridge needed to be replaced. I'm archiving this cache as I was informed that this will take the better part of 2 years to complete. Thanks to everyone who visited - once the new bridge is in place I'll see about putting a new cache here.

Geocache Description:

A magnetic micro on a bridge over Big Elk Creek.

The container is a magnetic key holder on a bridge spanning Big Elk Creek between New London and Elk Townships in southern Chester County, Pa. Contents are log only so bring your own writing utensil. There are two pull offs, one at either end of the bridge - there is room for two vehicles at each one. Please be aware tho; the pull off on the north end of the bridge is the turn around for the local school bus. If you are parked there when the bus comes down to turn around you will be subject to ticketing and a fine so plan your visit accordingly. This is not an issue on weekends and during the summer months. It would also be a good idea to avoid this bridge during the first week of trout season; it's worth your life to get through there, especially on the first day (first day of 2011 trout season is April 2nd).
Maintenance of this cache should not be an issue since I live less than a mile from this bridge. Please use care in retrieving and replacing the cache so that it doesn't take a dive into the creek. This is a one lane bridge so please be aware of traffic while searching. The cache is accessible from the road; you DO NOT need to go under the bridge! I averaged 100 readings for the coordinates but the signal may bounce some down in the valley.
Update 6/12/11: I'm changing the location a bit and posting a new hint. Someone took it upon themselves to draw an outline of the cache container on the bridgework at the original location, hence the move. I took 200 readings at the new spot but accuracy isn't very good; the new hint is a dead give away.

Update 3/28/13: Cache is being disabled and removed for a couple of weeks. Saturday (3/30/13) is the first day of trout fishing season here in PA and parking, to put it mildly, will be non-existent for a while.

Congrats to SquirtGunn for being FTF!
