Geocache Description:

Cache is a 35mm film canister. This cache is not hidden directly on the grounds, but in very close proximity and full view of Magnolia Hall.

Magnolia Hall was one of the last great antebellum mansions built in Natchez. (Antebellum simply means before the Civil War.) It was built in 1858 by Thomas Henderson, a prominent commission merchant in the style of Greek Revival architecture. After falling into disrepair, the Natchez Garden Club acquired ownership of the home in 1976 and began renovations which are still continuing today. The exterior of the building has been restored to its' original brownstone color. The building has become a museum of sorts with tours taking place hourly from 9:30-3:30 on Monday thru Saturday and 12:30-3:30 on Sunday. The upstairs houses the Caroline Pack Collection of 18th and 19th century furniture. Also upstairs is the Emily Stubbs Kelley Textile Collection and an exhibit of Pilgrimage costumes which includes some of the regal gowns worn by former queens of the Pilgrimage.
