Once you get to the coords you will have to do several things to
locate the cache.
* The first thing you will do is to drive along the road until
you come to the sign for Loblolly Pine Plantation. Once here pull
over to keep roadway open.****Disregard any fire tacks you see.
They are NOT for the cache.***
This area was planted many many years ago to help in the
preservation of this wetlands habitat. Loblolly pines are a tree
that is found in many forests that border marsh areas. It helps
create a much less bio-diverse area than forests of mixed trees.
This area also greatly benefits the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem.
The dense layers of needles protects the soil by slowing
rainfall, releasing water slowly to reduce erosion. The roots &
fallen needles form a sponge-like layer that absorbs runoff,
conditions the soil, & supports plants & wildlife. The
trees help clean the air by trapping pollutants & transforming
the nutrients in runoff before they enter & harm the Bay.
* Next you will need to take a coords reading at this sign.
* To the coords at the sign you will Now ADD .033 to the north
coords & ADD .013 to the west cords.***(If you don't find it
at this solution maybe try adding .028 to north & .029 to the
west. This seems to come up closer about 1/2 the time)
Once you have done this you can go for the cache.
You are looking for a medium size lock & lock.
***Difficulty level is a 3.5* because GPS will bounce
& you will have to use your geo sense.***
This area is very close to the water & home to a variety of
wildlife. Some may be our nice little slither friends so PLEASE
PLEASE be careful. The brush, branches & bush are left here for
nesting areas for the wildlife so be mindful of that. DO NOT reach
in somewhere blind as it may have an occupant.
If you take a few minutes to stand quietly you will be treated
to the sounds of numerous species of birds. There have been over
2oo different birds identified out here. Frequent visitors to this
area are the Red-bellied woodpecker, the Northern Flicker &
even the Bald Eagle sit high in the trees.
If you are here early you may catch sight of some of the deer,
foxes & even some of the water rodents coming & going
between the habitats.
Tread gently as the ecosystem is very sensitive but do
ENJOY!
