Geocache Description:

My first Wherigo cache and cartridge. Hopefully it works as advertised. Advise if the cartridge isn't working right, what step you are on and what doesn't work. I'll correct and post a note to alert others to redownload the cartridge.

Historical Markers along Mountain Road, Glen Allen, VA

From Historical Marker EA-5:

Mountain Road was originally an Indian trail. It became the main thoroughfare from Richmond to Charlottesville in the 1700s. During the American Revolution, the Marquis de Lafayette traveled this road on his march to Yorktown. Thomas Jefferson used it on his trips to Richmond and Williamsburg. During the Civil War, on 11 May 1864, Maj. Gen. Philip H. Sheridan encountered Confederate skirmishers as his men destroyed the Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad tracks here at Glen Allen. Sheridan and Brig. Gen. George A. Custer then rode south into the Battle of Yellow Tavern.

There is plenty of interesting history along this road. This Whereigo cartridge/geocache is intended to share several locations along Mountain Road in what is hoped is an interesting manner.

For more information about the historical markers along US33 - much of which is Mountain Road, visit VA Historical Markers along US33
For more information about the historical markers in the Glen Allen area, visit VA Historical Markers for zipcode 23060

Start at the posted coordinates for this geocache then start your Wherigo cartridge. All markers are within sight of Mountain Road except the last marker which is not far from the parking coordinates posted with this geocache.

You must complete the cartridge in order to obtain the coordinates and visit the physical cache location. You must also sign the physical log in order to log a find on this geocache. Completion of an emulation session of the cartridge is not sufficient.

As this is my first of hopefully many WIG (Wherigo) cartridges, please offer feedback on how to make it better experience. Thank you for playing.

This is a cursed cache for all First to Finder's out there. If you are the FTF for a cache in this series, you are cursed with the obligatation to place another "The Curse of the FTF" cache and therefore extending the series.

This concept is in play up in Fredericksburg, and they have a strong series running; let's keep our's to the south to avoid any confusion.

Guidelines for this series are below:

1. FTF'er should place the next cache in the series (The Curse of the FTF #) within 2 months.
Other wise the curse will prevent you from ever getting another FTF again!!! HA HA!!
2. You can only be a FTF for this series once. This spreads the FTF love around, and gives others a chance to play along.
3. Cache can be any type of cache (Puzzle, Multi, etc.).
4. You must include this set of guidelines in your listing for the series, and include the list of all who have been cursed before you.

Those Who have been cursed so far:

1. SailorRory & the Winch Wenches (08/30/07) -- curse lifted 09/29/07
2. PerrinGrim (09/30/07) -- curse lifted 10/30/07

You may notice I have been cursed for 12 months, so I will make up for essentially cursing everyone else (by not placing one sooner) by placing a cache for each month I held up this FTF series. For those who seek these, you may want to hold off a few days after you get your FTF before placing your cache to give me time to get my cursed caches placed and published. ENJOY!
