Geocache Description:

Lyrup Football Club

This cache has been placed at the home ground of the Lyrup Football Club. The cache should not be attempted whilst there is any activity (winter or summer sports) on the oval as the cache is in a somewhat exposed location with there being nowhere for a cacher to hide if caught in the act!

The Lyrup Football Club plays in the Riverland Independent Football League. The Lyrup Football Club is known as the Lyrup Lions, and they wear red, blue and gold jumpers.

According to the footypedia web site the Lyrup Football Club first played in 1909 and wore maroon and white jumpers and were known as the Saints. In 1949 the club folded and was not reformed until 1961. In 1988 Lyrup Football Club changed its colours and nickname to what they are now.

Premierships

9 - 1909, 1928, 1934, 1939, 1973, 1980, 1996, 2001, 2004.

The Riverland Independent Football League

The competition is currently called the Riverland Independent Football League and comprises the following clubs:

  • Browns Well
  • Cobdogla
  • East Murray
  • Kingston-Moorook
  • Lyrup
  • Paringa
  • Wunkar

This is the first in a series of Riverland IFL club caches.

The Cache

You are looking for a small container. There is only room for the log book and a pencil for you to record your find. If you carry a pencil sharpener, you might like to sharpen the pencil for the next logger. Please do not leave swaps as they will make extracting and replacing the log book difficult.
