So much has happened to me in my caching life over the last few months, I did my first proper 24 hour caching run, mostly by myself. I’ve met some wonderful cachers, been on crazy adventures including FTF runs and caching events, cached with some fantastic people, and even lost the opportunity to cache with some wonderful cachers. But becoming a geocacher has been one of the strangest and more interesting parts of my life so far.
I thought about doing this cache for a few months before I decided to go ahead, as this is not a usual cache, yes every cache has it’s own special ness about it, but this one is a little more so to the fact that it is a journal for all cachers to remember some of the best, craziest, hardest, most frustrating cache they can think of.
I don’t want anyone to walk to this cache, scribble down a TFTC, and then walk away, there is a large rock to sit on and a great view to look at, this is a place for you to tell everyone else of the one cache or the one caching event you remember the most and that still makes you either smile, laugh or become infuriated and mad still to this very day. Hence the name, memoirs of a cacher, you are the cacher, I want you to write some of your memoirs down for other caches to read about and smile too. It doesn’t have to be an epic, it can be just a few lines, but I really want you to think about this before you go to tell your story

What you have to do to find this cache is find the date of the posting of the following quotes, not the month or the year but the date ie 9th or 28th. I’ve chosen these quotes because for me the sum up what it’s like to cache in Canberra.

A = As we started to process the cache, I looked up and was in awe. It was a big WOW factor! There was a thick ribbon of crimson over the dark Brindabellas. The air was crystal clear and the nightlights of Woden and surrounds was spectacular. This was the real prize for me.
B = We found the cache, and grass seeds, grass seeds, oh and did we say grass seeds? I wonder what this are is supposed to be it is very run down, the toilets are bolted shut, and the picnic area is overgrown. Seems to be the standard for Canberra...
C = Having completed two earlier caches, it was a SIMPLE matter to ride my bike from them direct to this cache - ah - the advantages of riding a bike, no back-treking to a car. And it was a great ride along the top and down those tracks.
D = Hehe !! I was heading towards GZ, congratulating myself for not attracting any AFP attention, when there they were. Fifteen seconds later, off they went again, wheels spinning.... Dunno if that makes me feel safe or not, but I suspect that after The S's chat, a briefing was held for all officers and they now know what to expect. I still wonder how long before one has a hissy-fit though, and orders it removed.
E = Once I finally found the cache, I heard distant banging. I finished the cache and then headed towards the trig. As I went over the rise, the 4 muggle kids saw me. One had jumped the barbed wire and was bashing the relay with a hammer. Stupid idiots. They managed to break a cable and disfigure the dish. Once they saw me they ran around a bit like rabbits and then took off at lightning speed over the hill. Here is a photo of the back of one scampering over the hill. Lots of wildlife including rabbitz, rooz wallabeerz and bratz.
F = Looking for a cricket game and went to the wrong oval, so I thought.... why not climb a hill instead, there's one nearby that's bound to have a cache on it! I was right.
I am out of caching "shape" with the Xmas/NY etc excuses, and was blowing hard by the time I got to the top, but the light breeze, the massive roos and the view made it worth it.
