Geocache Description:

S is for "Strike", but dont strike out on this cache!

Another in the History Alphabet series. You are at the local ball fields that have been given many families hours of enjoyment since the early 70's. Before that, the Wetumpka Jaycees maintained a ball field not far from this spot (houses are built there now) and there were 6 teams. When the Jaycee Park was outgrown, the city provided this place so that children of all ages would have a place to play ball. In addition to that, the fields were home to Men and Women’s Softball, Babe Ruth, Dixie Youth and the Wetumpka High School Indians used the field as their home field for years. The current Director of the park is Wink Barrett. Should you see him while you are looking give him a wave and let him know you are looking for the "thing". I never could get him to call it a cache, only a "thing". It may help you to know that there have been many 7th inning stretches here. This cache will be all but impossible if there are gmaes going on, so, your caching skills get you an extra "atta boy" if you grab this during season. Congrats on the FTF honors to WFD142 (Pilfering was there too)
