Easy find near the site of the Confederate battle of Buchanan during Hunter's Raid.
You will enjoy this site if you are interested in civil war history, or just want a quick stop for a picnic lunch. At this public boat landing, you can see the original pilings of a bridge used during the civil war raid at Buchanan. On June 13, 1864, the Federal General David Hunter marched through Buchanan, driving Confederate General McCausland's troops out of Buchanan. He burned the covered bridge, leaving the pilings you now see. The pilings of the original bridge now support a quaint pedestrian suspended rope bridge, looking like it stepped right out of an Indiana Jones movie.
Enjoy a picnic lunch and view of the river on the nearby picnic tables, and make a stop at the sign describing the events of that day.
Didn't your mom ever tell you not to place a cache in a flood plain? The cache has been reconfigured and relocated. You will be looking for a key container which blends in with the background. Please close it well to protect the contents from drifting away. Bring a pencil.
Congratulations VWDave FTF!
