Todos os dias nas nossas cidades, vilas ou aldeias passamos por objectos de arte, mas raras são as vezes que lhes damos a devida importância, que paramos por um momento para as apreciar, para saber mais um pouco.

Uma dessas obras de arte é uma estátua colocada na cidade do Porto à uns bons anos atrás. A sua forma curiosa e o facto de não ter uma placa indicando o autor e o que representa tem despertado a atenção de muitos.

Everyday in our cities we pass by many art objects, but normaly we don't give it much of an attention, we don't stop for a moment to appreciate it to know a litle bit more.

More than a few years ago one of this art objects, a statue, was placed in the city of Porto. Its peculiar shape and the fact that it has no sign stating who is the author and what it represents has grasp the attention of many.

Encontrar a cache

O objectivo é faze-lo apreciar as obras de arte espalhadas pela cidade do Porto, quem sabe se uma delas é a desta fotografia. Se a encontrou está em condições de descobrir a cache, caso contrário continue calmamente o seu périplo, vai chegar o dia em que a encontrará.

Se encontrou a estátua pegue no seu GPSr e faça o seguinte:

Posicione-se atrás, bem perto da estátua, sim, aquele sitio. Dessa posição vai projectar um ponto sabendo que o rumo verdadeiro é 35º e a distância 20 metros. Se o seu equipamento estiver com uma boa precisão vai obter as coordenadas desta cache, caso contrário utilize o ponto obtido como referência para seleccionar a área de busca, fazendo de seguida uma pesquisa metódica.

Se está inseguro(a) em como projectar um ponto utilizando o GPSr, é melhor ler primeiro o manual de instruções que veio com o seu equipamento. Muitos manuais estão disponíveis na internet.

Utilizando esta técnica vai conseguir navegar até à cache, mas atenção, se for contra algo duro está no caminho errado.

Finding the cache

The prime objective is to make you see the several art objects spreaded all over the city of Porto, who knows if one of them is the one depicted in the photograph. If you found it you can find the cache, otherwise continue searching, one of this days you'll find it.

If you found the statue use your GPSr to do the following:

Put yourself closely behind the statue, yes, in that place. From that position project a waypoint knowing that the true bearing is 35º and the distance is 20 meters. If you have a strong GPS signal you are going to get the cache coordinates, if not use the waypoint you got to define the possible area and do a methodic search.

If you are unsure how to project a waypoint, the most graceful way to do it would be to read the instruction manual that came with your GPSr first. Most manuals are available on line.

You should be able to navigate to the cache location using this technique, but beware, if you hit something hard you are on the wrong track.

Vai procurar um contentor de tamanho pequeno, mas não dê em louco.

Na cache vai encontrar o seguinte conteudo inicial: Logbook, stashnote, dois lápis.

Para manter a piada desta caçada não é possível relatar nos vossos logs quaisquer locais geográficos e estabelecimentos comerciais, quer sejam perto quer sejam longe do local onde a cache se encontra, isto inclui frases tipo "perto do trabalho", "perto de casa", etc. Como é óbvio também não se pode incluir fotografias excepto do logbook, mas mantendo em segredo o local final. Agradeço a vossa compreensão.

The Cache

You are going to search for a small sized container, but don't get mad.

Inside the container you will find the following initial content: Logbook, stashnote, two pencils.

To keep the interest in the cache it's not possible to post logs stating any geographic location or commercial establishments, should it be near or far from the cache location. This includes phrases like «close to work», «close to home», etc. As it's obvious you also cannot post photographs except from the logbook but keeping the final spot a secret.
