Historic District 1--Wedding Bells Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

60minuteman: On the one hand, it's difficult to archive a cache that's been out there for almost 14 years. But, on the other, I really can't get over to McKinney often enough to fix this one up when it comes up missing. Thanks to all who have found and logged this cache and especially to those who've helped out by dropping in a fresh log, replacing a zip tie, or, on at least one occasion, the cache container itself. I've enjoyed reading your stories and and remembering a fun time in my life when I hid this years ago.

Geocache Description:

You're looking for a cammo'd pill bottle located near a small park just north of the downtown square. The cache contains a log only, so BYOP. This time the lid is tethered to the container. Please make sure not to break the tether and to replace the lid securely.

This McKinney cache used to be the first in a series that wound through the Historic District neighborhood surrounding the downtown square. I lived in the neighborhood for a number of years and loved every minute of it. I've moved on and don't live in the area anymore so, over time, as the other caches in the original "Historic District" series needed maintenance I archived them. Eventually, the one in this location was the only one left.

There is abundant parking near the cache. The "Historic District" Series isn't out there anymore, but there are several caches nearby and you could have a pleasant afternoon caching through the area if you chose to walk through the neighborhood on nice day.

There are many picturesque spots in this neighborhood and the day I hid the original cache in this location a large wedding party was getting photos made very nearby. Church bells even sounded as they went through the slow process of getting everyone to say cheese. I was stealthy in my hide, but I couldn't help but notice that the tuxedoed groomsmen were a lot more interested in what I was up to than in what they were doing! True to form they were setting up for an outdoor wedding as I gathered the old container and placed a new new one. Weekends in the early summer are like that.
