Geocache Description:

A cache created by Lena

This is part three in a series of three caches put together by Lena and her sister Anna and brother Joshua (3 of the Infamous five) and mirror a similar series that they have hidden in the UK. Lena’s UK cache can be found using waypoint GCRFRM.

Here in Australia Lena has hidden her cache near Manly Dam on a view point just off of the main track that goes all the way around the Reservoir and great for walking and watching the water skiing. The Dam is open from 7am to 8:30pm and you will need to cross it to get to the cache. There is no need for bush bashing. Just stay on the track until you spot the easy way up to the view point. From there it is another 25-30 meters along a track to the cache.

Manly Reservoir (WS 64) was constructed in 1892 and was supplied from Manly Dam (1892), by a pump located just below the dam wall. Manly Water Supply was independent of the Metropolitan supply from the Upper Nepean Scheme until 1906, when a gravity main was completed from Mosman Reservoir. An elevated tank was erected beside the reservoir in 1916, but was made redundant and demolished in 1924, when Bantry Bay Reservoir (WS 8) was completed. Supply from the Manly Dam was phased out by 1933 when Bantry Bay Reservoir (WS 8) was connected by main to Pymble Reservoir.

On the other side of the Reservoir is a childrens playground, BBQ area, toilets and a very interesting Nature trail. You can also swim in the reservoir.
