The walk is quite easy from the parking location. Suitable for toddlers. The path is clear and quite level. Can be a little muddy after wet weather, but the views all around are fantastic.
We came across this location while on a walk, and we were very moved by the loving memorial to a girl who died so young.
When you pass through Rachel’s Stile, pause to read everything you can see, and you will realise why we were inspired to set this cache and how it has got its name. Rachel must have been a remarkable little girl.
Spend a few moments sitting on Rachel’s seat and ponder a life so short. Before you is a superb view of the Kinder plateau, with Kinder Downfall in the centre (behind the farm house) bounded by Ashop Head to the left and Kinder Low End to the right.
Please bring swaps that you think a young teenage girl would like. You may also like to bring some bulbs to plant around the area. There are a few daffodils and snowdrops there already.
Please remember that this is a memorial to a much loved child, and so please treat the area with the respect that it deserves.
It is possible to visit this cache as a stand alone, in which case, the additional waypoint gives a nearby parking location.
Alternatively, it can be part of a nice circular walk taking in ‘EJ’s Promontory’ (GCH8KZ), ‘Lobster Pot’ (GCMZEF), and passing the Fox pub.
