An easy-ish cache by the Shropshire Union canal.
We are lucky to have 2 canals in the area. The Trent and Mersey and the Shropshire Union canals. Both are great for walking along the tow paths. The former has its fair share of caches but the latter is not well represented.
The cache is a small lock & lock box.
Initial contents were:Log book, pencil, sharpener and eraser.
A geode from the Sahara desert in Tunisia.
A set of worry beads from Greece.
A small selection of foreign coins.
There is ample free car parking in the town.
The walk from the town centre is about 1 mile along a well maintained tow path.
There is ample mooring for narrowboats within easy walking distance of the cache.
Note. The lane near the cache is not usually busy but some use it as a short cut, it is also used by farm vehicles. This lane is best avoided as the visibility is less than perfect because of the bridge over the canal.
Do not cross the lane near this bridge.
This area is popular with walkers, joggers, anglers and people on boating holidays. So stealth may be required.
From the tow path there is no need to access the lane to find the cache.
