Nice street end park with a hidden entrance.
This park was funded and built by the Portage Bay - Roanoke Park community and friends of Astrid Caroline Neal. Astrid was a teenager when she died in a skiing accident at Crystal Mountain in 1981. She was training for the Olympics and was a friend of Debbie Armstrong, an Olympic gold medalist who also grew up near here.
Even though this park has a relatively hidden entrance, it is popular with the locals and the muggle factor can be high from the neighboring boats and private parking lot. There is decent street parking.
7/23/2014: Update -- this cache worked just fine for about 4 years, then it started going missing several times. I finally replaced it with a new one. Coordinates are roughly the same so I left them alone, but if you look where the cache used to be you will be about 6 feet off. I also changed the hint and upped the difficulty rating from 1.5 to 2. Happy hunting, and enjoy the view!
9/19/2016: Update -- some recent maintenance to the park took away my hiding spot, so I have had to rethink this one. Settled on a new container in a new location, coordinates have been adjusted. I also edited the description and hint, as the old ones no longer apply.
