Geocache Description:

This is a letterbox/Hybrib located at Manor Farm park in Huntington.

This letterbox/Hybrid cache is dedicated in loving memory to Blueberry Joy's beloved cat Blueberry.

Blueberry was a very unique cat which is why I choose to do a Hybrid dedication to her, I always believed she was part cat and part human. I remember the first time I met Blueberry, I had been to the house several times and heard there was a cat named Blueberry that ruled the roost, but had yet to actually see her. I was beginning to believe we would never meet. Than one evening she came out, our eyes locked, she looked me up and down and I froze in fear (I’m a little scared of cats). She than took a few steps closer, my heart started racing, she looked me up and down again than turned around and left, looking behind her only once. Blueberry got her name because she was gray, she was named blueberry-gray because cats are called blues. My husband Mike had to save her from the Dobermans that lived next door. Blueberry enjoyed watching field hockey games. Whenever company came, Blueberry could be found in the center of the room sitting and talking. She never roamed far from home. She would often attack a blank wall, seeing something there that nobody else could. Blueberry used to think that lizzie (the family dog)was her mother. Blueberry was also pretty famous having appeared on ch 12 news when they were taking pet pictures with santa. She always got the blessing in church on the animal blessing day. And she ate spiders.

We hide this cache in Manor Farm Park. You can park on the right side of the road right next to the entrance of the park or you can also park on the side street Ontario. Enter the park by the main entrance (which we think is the only area of the park without a fence around it) walk towards the agricultural structure that I think was some kind of chicken coop. The coordinates will lead you the woods. There was really no trail and plenty of thorny bushes and logs to fall over so please be careful. This park closes at dusk, but there is no gate that would keep you from entering the area. As this is a letterbox Hybrid there is a cat stamp that you can stamp in your letterbox notebook and if you have a stamp please bring it to stamp the log book. Since we dedicate this cache to Blueberry there is only cat related swag to be found and also contains a log book and a few pens. This cache is in a medium sized lock and lock box. Please rehide as best you can :). Enjoy.

**UPDATE:
We recieved a very kind email from the caretakes and fellow geocachers "twomutts" of Manor Farm Park (this is the "helpful fellow" that Stayfloppy met). They kindly informed us that it is ok to park in the parking area with the woodchips rather than on the street.

My mother-in-law found some historical information on the park:
In the past two years, the Town of Huntington has broadened the scope of its open space purchases to include two parcels with historic houses. The first open space parcel purchased through the Town’s Environmental Open Space and Park Improvement Fund (EOSPA), in 2000, is a five acre working farm known as Manor Farm, or the Robertson-Becker farm. The property contains a c. 1830 farmhouse, several undated 19th century barns and agricultural structures, as well as a warren of non-historic pigeon and chicken coops. The Towns initial purpose in buying the parcel was to add to the Suffolk County Berkeley Jackson Park and to create a trailhead. Fully aware of the stewardship needs of the parcel’s historic structures, the Town hired a consultant specializing in historic preservation to develop a preservation plan, to oversee removal of modern additions and substandard structures, to conduct a physical investigation of the farm house and associated outbuildings, and to guide future restoration.
