Bulgaria, Shumen Plateau

Hello GeoCachers!

This is my first hidden cache. It is on the Shumen Plateau, near the monument “Founders of the Bulgarian State”, which is opened for visitors on 28.11.1981 year, in honour of 1300 years from the foundation of Bulgarian state and reproduces the most important moments of the history of the First Bulgarian Kingdom.
The amount of used concrete is really stunning! I suggest you start from the city center and climb the stairs up to the top. You may count them – they are 1300 ?
There are many muggles when the weather is fine.

In the area there are a lot of interesting places you can see. I intend to make more caches there. One is the old town and fortress, The First and the Second Bulgarian Capital Pliska and Preslav. And of course the Madara horseman, part of the UNESCO heritage.
