Geocache Description:

Park and grab in view of the remains of Tecumseh School.

Tecumseh School District #2, Callahan County: The Tecumseh School at this site was opened about 1879 and closed in 1938 when it consolidated with the Oplin School.

Tecumseh was named for the Tecumseh range of mountains to the south. Besides the school Tecumseh boasted of a large general store( built in 1880, this store was one of the largest country stores in Callahan county and did an enormous business), a post office(1886) and the Newspaper Office of the Tecumseh Banner (1886) edited by WE Guililand with the motto: “Tis neither birth, nor wealth or state, but get-up and get that makes men great”.

The land is now owned by the descendants of Roy Armor who bought the Windham and Guililand properties.
