Ballarat has been
a center for cachers and caching since early 2001. In the
last 18 months there has been a small explosion of new
cachers in the local area and the surrounding region. This is
an event for all those caches who:
- Live in
or near Ballarat
- Used to
live in or near Ballarat
- Have
cached in Ballarat
- Would
like to cache in Ballarat
You can also come if
you do not, or have not lived here. Have not or do not want to
cache here. But despite that would like drop by anyway. (We're
pretty easy to get on with).
We will meet at the park in front of the Eureka Center. The Eureka
Center is situated on the historic reserve that commemorates the
Eureka Rebellion. This reserve is located on part of the original
Eureka Lead where the rebellion took place. Visitors will find The
Center just south of the main route into Ballarat from Melbourne,
on the corner of Eureka and Rodier Streets in East Ballarat.
There are a couple of Barbecue's under shelter, a large play ground
for the kids, Toilets and water, and of course you could also visit
the Eureka Center. The only thing missing is that I don't think
there are any power points. There is even a cache hidden in the
reserve.
We'll be there from 11am till we're done, but at least 2pm.
We'll organize a few simple caching games and plant a few GeoKid
hides for the younger cachers.
You will also be deciding the winner of the "Ballarat's Best Cache
Competition" competition that 2Dudez have been
promoting. You can read more about it here:
If you were thinking of bringing the caravan and making a weekend
of it, there is a van park next door. I don't know anything about
it, so make your own decision as to if it suits you.
