When I was a boy, we discovered a old brick pumping station that was in ruins. We were told ( by other boys, so it must have been true)that there were buried treasure in the ruins,so it was with much fear & trembling that we approached the place & emerged dissapointed when we found nothing. Perhaps this is why I enjoy planting caches, so that you can at least find something, maybe.

Pic by R&R--cool!
In 1870 the Lime Kilns were up & running, limestone was quarried and carted to here , fired in the kilns & after crushing, the lime was barged down to Auckland to be used in the plaster for many Auckland buildings.
The kilns today are in a fair state of preservation, with work currently being done to stabilise & strenghthen the site.
The park pre-dates 1934 when a rimu was planted by Lord Bledisloe, former Governor General, & still flourishes.(see if you can find it, I havnt a clue!)
The cache is a 35mm film container with logbook only, BYOG pencil.
