The 10th of september 1944 most german troops/forces have been
withdrawed from Sandweiler and the people of the village waited for
the Americans. They came, but not as expected by the people of this
village. The Americans attacked Sandweiler with aircraft bombs
because they expected that the village was still under german
occupation.
On the 11th september a young man, René Massard, decided to go
to meet the Americans to convince them that the village
wasn’t anymore under german occupation. He was accompagned by
Nik Molling, who lived a few years in the USA and was able to
communicate in english. On their bicycles they took direction
Luxembourg town and met somewhere the Americans and convinced
them.
