Geocache Description:

A series of magnetic Micro caches, of varying styles and sizes. The aim on these caches are to introduce the visitor to some areas of the city the may not have seen, and perhaps surprise the local cacher with something they may not have seen before.

Additional hints may be available from the people in the Mr £andwich shop, although we have no connection to them and if you are hungry they do do a nice sandwich.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO NEED TO CLIMB ON ANYTHING - PLEASE RESPECT ANY SIGNS IN ALLEY WAYS ASKING YOU NOT TO CLIMB ON ANYTHING

we posted the above warning in 2012, in March 2013 we were sent this news article; www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/geocaching-craze-leaves-york-residents-underwhelmed-8550208.html, penned in the Independent by Freddie Nathan. This fine upstanding "reporter" also wrote the classic punchy journalistic groundbreakers about a two headed shark and the ground breaking story "British teens 'think Delia Smith, Jerry Hall and Camilla were Henry VIII's wives' "

The Shambles is one of York's oldest medieval streets and is one of the UK's most visited streets . You will walk on the well trodden cobbled street, following over 900 years of History. This narrow street originally housed butchers shops now home to many small curiosity shops. The original wooden beams and slabs in front of the windows can still be seen. The wooden buildings overhang the street so much you could shake hands with your neighbour opposite and the roofs almost touch in the middle. Half way along Shambles is the house where Margaret Clitherow, lived, a butchers wife who, as a penalty for sheltering catholic priests, was crushed to death under a door piled with heavy stones In 1586.
