Selected excerpts from Buffalo’s Dictionary:
Buffalo (proper noun): "The second largest city in
New York State or one of three small populated places in western
North Carolina.
Buffalo (noun): "An American bison: One or a herd of
them”
Buffalo (verb): "To engage in bamboozlement"
Buffaloers: Those who promote the bamboozling ways of
the great mysterious Buffalo
Buffalonians: Those in active or passive pursuit of
Buffalo’s caches (or residents of places called
Buffalo)
Buffaloed: A state of being, characterized by awe
inspiring clarity that you’ve just been bamboozled but
aren’t quite sure where or when.
Buffaloing: An “art” practiced by only
the most demented and twisted of ‘em all. AKA
“bamboozling”
The Story: All of a sudden the door to the newsroom burst
open, in came Chester and he was obviously upset, out of breath.
Waving his arms wildly, pointing out the door he kept repeating the
same story. Being the reporters that we were we carefully wrote
down every word he spoke. Just before he collapsed he
said…
“Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo
Buffalo buffalo!”
We carefully unfolded Chester’s story, trying to sort out
what was really happening with the buffalo. Here’s what we
figured out…

(WHOA! Be on the look out for a whole herd of demented and
twisted buffalo trekking out from Buffalo, leaving their chips
along the way (presumably so they can find their way back)…
or is it just ONE of these bewildering bamboozling beasties right
here in our neck of the woods?
Author’s Note: My sincerest apologies, and heartfelt
mind-numbing thanks to Geoffrey K. Pullman and William J. Rapaport
who started me on this stream of creative "Buffalo's
buffalo "thinking.
