There is a story behind this
one:
Mike & Melvin have been putting this "hostage" in each
other's front yard for years, at night without telling the other as
a practical joke on each other. Mike is in Wisconsin and Melvin
here in Minnesota.
About a year ago, when Mike placed it in Melvin's yard, he
said that he "never wanted to see it again." For the last year, his
wish has come true, but that's about to end.
When you find the hostage, log your name in the cache
container below it, but DO NOT SET THE HOSTAGE FREE. Each time that
you find the hostage and log your find into Geocaching.com, I will
receive an email telling me you found it. Each time that happens, I
will take that as my cue to send Mike one of the nice little
pictures I have of the hostage being captured, along with a note
written supposedly by the hostage to Mike. I have them set to be
mailed from all over the country, so that Mike cannot trace where
his beloved "pet" is captured.
IT WILL DRIVE MIKE NUTS, and that's a good thing.
When you find this cache, smile, and know that Melvin thanks
you for your part in this practical joke on Mike. Poor
Mike...
Original contents of the cache below the hostage are: Logbook
Pen Compass Magic Trick Donkey Puzzle Magic Paddle Trick Chinese
Magic Wallet. Container is big enough to place TBs and Geocoins
into, along with anything else that other cachers might enjoy. If
you take something, please leave something fun for the next
cacher.
(For those that cache with their kids like I do, you know that
the moment that container is opened, their eyes get big with
wonder, even if it only means a rubber band ball, or a Hotwheels
car, is there for them. Kids; you gotta love 'em.)
Please replace cache container RED SIDE UP to keep
dry.
Congrats to Yellow Streak for the FTF, and the first photo is
headed to Mike's house.
