Geocache Description:

The cache name says it all..."Potable Water." From the trailhead, you'll have an easy walk to a water fountain for you and a water trough for your horse. [:P]

The Monte Vista trail is much less frequented than the other trails in this area. If you prefer a short loop trail with vistas of Folsom Lake, you'll enjoy this quiet spot.

The best views of the area are from Flagstaff Hill, of course. However, in my humble opinion, the sweeping 180 degree view from the cache is the second best. You'll be able to see past Iron Mountain to the Folsom Lake Dam, all the open land directly across Folsom Lake, and eastward to the hills above Salmon Falls Bridge.

The cache is located slightly below the Potable Water source. There are three picnic tables nearby where you can take in the view, rest, or contemplate all the caches on the "other side."
