Geocache Description:

Bring pencil. This is a micro. Placed with permission.

A large part of the history of Sandwich involves the glass manufacturing industry. This history can still be seen at the Sandwich Glass Museum.

In addition to exhibits that tell the story of the Sandwich glass industry and glass blowing demonstrations, the museum collection include pieces that were manufactured at the Boston and Sandwich Glass Factory.

Also included in the museum collection is part of the collection of glass that was giving to Deming Jarves as a farewell gift from the master craftsmen of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Factory. Deming Jarves founder of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Factory, resigned from the factory in 1858. His farewell gift was a set of blown, cut and engraved glassware that was engraved with the initial “J”.

You do not need to enter the museum for this cache, but if you have time, take a visit and see some of the beautiful pieces that are part of the history of Sandwich.

Thanks to all the wonderful people at the museum that made this cache possible.
