Geocache Description:

A small cache near the Chandler Power and Pumping Plant on the Old Inland Empire Highway.

We have driven many times along the interstate on the opposite side of the valley and seen the huge jet of water shooting out from this pumping plant into the Yakima River. Evidently, the water goes uphill when pumping and downhill when the plant is a generating station getting rid of excess canal water. This Bureau of Reclamation operated plant is located along the Old Inland Highway about halfway between Prosser and Benton City.

If the gate is closed, park in the large open area near the gate. If open, park halfway past the gate to the pump house in turnouts on either side of the road. The cache is located several hundred feet from the parking area. Cache container is a camoed peanut jar.

While here, you can go after YeOleImposter’s “Basalt Heights” cache which is just up the hill from the pumping plant.
