Geocache Description:

Standard cache in the historical Manor Farm area of Ruislip

Ruislip moat is on the Manor Farm site just to the north of Ruislip High Street and a short walk from Ruislip tube. The moat itself is clearly visible now that the council have been doing a lot of upgrading work in the area. It is generally not full of water, but there is often some visible at the bottom. The site is said to have been the location of a Motte and Bailey castle, but there is insufficient evidence for some historians. A monastic cell was known to have existed here in the 12th century under the Abbot of Bec who gained control of Ruislip following the Norman conquest. The properties were confiscated (back) by Henry IV in 1404 and passed to Kings College in 1462 where they remained until the 20th Century.

The cache is a clip-top 350 ml box with a log book, and some initial swaps. The cache location is generally busy with people visiting the nearby library, theatre/concert performances at the Winston Churchill Hall etc. Please take care when searching at retrieving the cache.
