Geocache Description:

CONGRATS TO PIRATES2+2 FOR FIRST TO FIND!!! [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]

About a one mile hike - overall fairly easy terrian. Once you you hit the waterfall, cross over the creek and stay on the south side.

Thanks to a fellow cacher (Eric) who has told me more about this area, I've updated this description. This trail is believed to be an old wagon trail that traveled from White Rock Road up to Shingle Springs. It is below the old Lincoln Hwy. The stacked rocks were necessary to support the road since it was built on a sloping hill. The stacked rock walls in the fields were most likely from Chinese farmers who were marking their property or grazing boundaries. One item that I'm no sure about are the neatly stacked rock mounds on the hill side. Can anyone provide some history on those?

It is a round trip hike of about a mile. Keep your eyes out for posion oak. I saw a little of it today. As long as you stick to the main trail, you'll be o.k..

This is a very cool hike. Please be cautious when you cross the creek, especialy if you have young ones with you. I stumbled on this area a few weeks ago and was impressed by the amount of rock work that was done in order to support the road. Who knows how many travelers used to pass by on this road. A lot of time and effot was spent on this old road. This area is unlike any others around and you will feel like you're in a different world. The fern, moss and tall green grass make this a beautiful place to visit in the spring.
