Geocache Description:

In the mid 1950’s due to the prevailing southerly winds the township of Venus Bay was threatened by encroaching sand hills. The residence of Mr MH Little was in the path a very large drift and the rapidly approaching sand. Messrs Grant Dolphin and Mick Obrien travelled to Purlubie Beach near Streaky Bay where they pulled a large quantity of the grass known locally as Whip Grass and brought this back to Venus Bay. With the help of other locals such as Len and Irene Broad and Jack and Joyce Cook this grass was replanted on the dunes. Later bamboo was planted and the sand was stopped in its tracks but not before overtaking some outhouses at the back of Mr Little’s residence.

A small plastic cammo container with note pad and pencil but room for small items if you wish.
