Schöne Aussicht, leichter Cache... wenn man erstmal dort ist.
Nice vista, easy cache... once you get there, that
is.
- Du willst mal wieder Caches suchen, findest aber
Industriegebiet-Micros und Parkanlagen-Döschen auf Dauer
langweilig?
- Du hättest beim Loggen gerne mal wieder mehr als einen halben
Quadratzentimeter Platz für deinen Namen?
- Du willst mit dem Auto zum Cachen fahren, es soll aber kein
langweiliger Drive-In sein, und auf eine längere Parkplatzsuche
kannst du auch verzichten?
- Du bist Caches leid, bei denen die Kartendarstellung auf deinem
teuren GPSr überflüssig scheint, weil der Weg sowieso schnurgerade
auf den Cache zuführt?
- Du möchtest einen Cache, bei dem das Finden des Verstecks
leichter ist als das Erreichen der Final-Koordinaten?
- Und ein lichtdurchfluteter Frühlingswald könnte dir auch
guttun?
Ein klassischer Wald- und Aussichtscache oberhalb des
"Dolomit"-Schotterwerks. Das Gelände ist ein Naturschutzgebiet,
aber man kommt auf regulären Wegen bis ans Ziel - nicht
querwaldein bitte!
Wer aus Richtung Regensburg auf der B8 angebrummt kommt, startet
beim nahegelegenen Rastplatz und hat etwa 2km Fußweg vor sich. Mit
dem Fahrrad (sinnvollerweise Mountainbike, die Wege sind teilweise
sehr holprig oder matschig) kann man entweder auch von dort "in
Wald stechen" oder man zweigt schon in Mariaort
(Greifenbergstraße!) nach Norden ab und benutzt die zahlreichen
Feldwege - es gibt da herrliche Möglichkeiten, sich zu
verfahren.
Tipp: Nicht die Spitzkehre direkt am Waldrand nehmen, sondern die
auf den Feldern.
Die Openstreetmap stammt in diesem Gebiet von
mir und ist wesentlich näher an der Realität als die meisten
Topo-Karten - seitdem das Gelände ca. 1990 zum Naturschutzgebiet
wurde, sind viele Wege verschwunden.
Trade-Items waren anfangs keine drin, da ich selber nie was tausche
- aber es ist Platz da, auch für kleine TBs und Coins.

drive-in, and you also don't want to drive around looking for a
place to park either?
- You're tired of caches for which the map display of your
expensive GPSr seems superfluous, because the way leads straight to
the cache anyway?
- You'd like to seek a cache where finding the box is easier
than getting to the final coordinates?
- And you'd love to walk through a springtime forest bathed in
sunlight?
A classic forest and vista cache above the "Dolomit" quarry. The
area is a nature reserve but you can get to the cache using the
available tracks - no cross-countrying please!
If you're approaching from Regensburg on the B8 highway, you'll
start at the rest area nearby. Riding a bicycle (preferably a
mountain bike, since the tracks are bumpy and muddy) you can start
from there too, or go north from Mariaort (Greifenbergstraße!) and
use the various tracks over the fields - which provide excellent
options for losing your bearings.
Hint: Don't use the switchback at the edge of the forest, but the
next one farther into the field.
I did the Openstreetmap for this area, and it's a lot
closer to reality than most of the topographical maps - since
the area was declared a nature reserve around 1990, many tracks
have disappeared.
Initially there were no trade items in it, since I never trade
myself - but there's plenty of room for TBs and coins.
