About SideTracked
We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there
aren’t many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public
transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick
Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations.
It is hoped this idea will spread across the country in the same
way as the MMs….but if hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and
remember that in this day and age, public transport is under
greater scrutiny than ever before, so, although these caches should
be quick and easy grabs, PLEASE don’t place a Cache where it
could cause alarm!!!

Sidetracked : Paignton
From Wikipedia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paignton_railway_station )
The railway to Paignton was built by the Dartmouth and Torbay
Railway, opening to passengers on 2 August 1859. Goods facilities
were added on 1 April 1861. The original goods shed now serves as
the station's ticket office.
The Dartmouth and Torbay Railway was always operated by the
South Devon Railway and was amalgamated with it on 1 January 1872.
This was only short lived as the South Devon Railway was in turn
amalgamated into the Great Western Railway on 1 February 1876.
On 11 July 1904 GWR road motor services started running from
here to Torquay, in competition with new electric tramways.
The line from Paignton to Kingswear was sold to the Dart Valley
Railway on 30 December 1972 which operated another nearby heritage
railway at Buckfastleigh. An independent station alongside the main
platform, known as Queens Park, was opened to serve the
Kingswear trains. This included a shed for the railway's engines
and carriages
The cache is in the nearby Victoria Park - take the road
opposite the old picture house (now the offices for the Paignton -
Kingswear steam line) and carry along past the multi-storey car
park into the park.
