A small series of caches that can be used as the basis of a circular walk in one of the quieter parts of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The caches have been placed so that it is possible to reach them by walking up to the ridgeline, following it around before crossing the Ystradfellte valley to return to the suggested parking coordinates. The caches are located in rough terrain in a remote area with changeable weather and should only be attempted by those with at least the bare minimum of suitable kit including good walking boots, a waterproof jacket, map, compass and basic navigational skills. This cache is a rather strenuous, but not technically challenging, ascent of Fan Fawr from the saddle at Craig y Fro – just be sure that you are to the west of the crags between the two before you start! In addition, please take care with children and dogs on the summit as there are crags to the east and the drop off is quite sudden… The climb is very definitely worth the effort. On a clear day there are extensive views in all directions from near the cache and any logs that include pictures will be much appreciated! On a cloudy day, the trig point is a welcome sight as it looms out of the mists! When retrieving the cache, please be careful as it is resting on one slab of rock with another resting on top of the cache itself – this upper slab will need to be removed to allow access to the cache. Please re-hide the cache carefully as the surrounding peat is fragile.
