This Cache is located in the former Village of West Hamilton. This year, 2008, marks its 100th anniversary when Samuel Bamberger’s farm formed the hub of the new village in 1908.
The church referred to was the former St. Margaret’s Anglican Church at 134 Emerson St.. It was sold in 2004 to St. George’s Reformed Episcopal Church. Next year the church location will celebrates their 100th Anniversary of continuous ministry to the people of West Hamilton using the Book Of Common Prayer.
Stroud Park, the exact location for this Cache sits on an underground CSO Tank. (Catchment Storm Overflow Tank). It is huge, 41m x37m x 10 m ( 134ft x 121ft. x 32ft) . When full its capacity is 15,000 m3 ( 3,300,000 imp. gallons ) . In 2007 it was completed. During a storm it is used to store storm / sewer runoff from the nearby Chedoke Creek. After the storm the water is pumped to Woodward Ave. Sewage Treatment Plant for treatment. This is an unmanned facility that is helping to create a healthier Cootes Paradise by diverting polluted water away from Hamilton Bay.
