If a longer walk or ride is wanted, then complete the circuit by either crossing the river using the Old State Highway One River Bridge (Main Road), Te Arawai foot bridge and/or the Otaihanga footbridge. www.wellingtonregionaltrails.com/trails/waikanae-river-trail/
By picking the right spots, you can safely cross the river with only your feet getting wet. Other areas are deep enough for a quick dip. The tracks on both sides of the river are used regularly by walkers, joggers, cyclists, canines and sometimes horses.
The cache is a small plastic screw top container fixed loosely in position and is not visible from a distance. When opened, a smaller screw top container should be inside that contains the log. A small pencil was is in the larger container when placed, but you should still bring you own pen.
The cache has since been moved a short distance from its original placement and is now placed above ground level. Please make sure cache is secure and hidden when returning it to its resting area. The coordinates for the new location have been up dated.
