Geocache Description:

Quick cache and dash.

Studebaker has a long history here in South Bend. The Studebaker Museum is a tribute to the contribution made to the community here.
The Studebaker family has had a major impact on our community and has contributed to history in many ways. From producing wagons during to the civil war, to an electric car in 1902, to building B-17 Flying Fortress engines, military trucks and the amphibious ‘Weasel’ Studebaker has left it’s mark in our countries history. Trucks and automobiles were probably the most famous product produced by Studebaker. A Presidential Roadster, Bullet Nose Land Cruiser, Champion Starliner, Speedster, Larks, Hawks and Avantis were but some of the models that rolled off the assembly lines here in South Bend.
The Studebaker Museum is well worth your time and is open Monday-Saturday 10 to 5 and Sunday 12 to 5. There is an admission fee to enter the museum but the cache is located outside the museum and is available anytime.
This cache was released during the WWFMIII held in South Bend on May 10, 2008 (GC19G7N) and is part of the South Bend Gem series to highlight attractions in the South Bend area.
