Geocache Description:

***CACHE CO-ORDINATES CHANGED*** 4 November 2015

Years ago we came to this area and found a spot where "witches" had been. There was a large pentagram built of tree trunks on the ground with a large crystal rock in the centre, and a teepee.

Since we have started geocaching we have seen numerous dog caches but as yet we haven't found any cat caches. What better place to redress this imbalance than at the witches' lair? (BTW we notice that the system has given this cache a listing with the letters C A and T in it. Coincidence? Fate? You be the judge)

Okay so the witches have long gone and there's no trace left of the pentagram, only the octagonal flat area once covered with carpet (now rotted away).

Dunn's Creek History.
Dunn's Creek was named after Dunn who was murdered on the creek by the infamous local bushranger Rocky Whelan. Rocky ranged between his hideout cave on Mt Wellington and his other cave overlooking Kingston (on private property or we would put a cache there!!) Rumour has it that a large X was cut into a tree where the body was found. We have looked up and down Dunns Creek but haven't found this log/tree. Please let us know if you by any chance find something that could be it!!

Part of the track to the cache follows an old water race which possibly supplied an early farm in the area.

Park at the corner of Chimney Pot Hill and Huon Road. Walk down the grass and look for a foot track to your right near two gum trees. The track is rough but not too difficult to follow. If you are stuck look out for some metal tags which mark some of the more obscure areas. Some people have tried to go cross country - so I am putting a note here - Don't, if you can help it.
