Geocache Description:

One in a series of places of interest around Dunfermline Town centre. Parking for all in this series is available in the town's car parks.

Abbot House is unique with it’s pink walls which were originally painted with Ox blood was built in the 15th century. The house escaped a fire which swept through Dunfermline in 1624, survived tempest, war and pillage and even outlasted much of the great Benedictine Abbey itself. It has borne witness to the intrigues of Church and State. In its time it has been an Abbot's home, a laird's mansion, an iron foundry and an art school. It has been steeped in history as wave after wave of events washed over it. Forging armour for Bruce's freedom fighters, casting iron for power looms, or training pilots to fight the Luftwaffe, Abbot House has seen it all. You will need to bring your own pen, the cache is magnetic.
