Eagle's Nest Traditional Cache
OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

I found my first cache on 11/22/2007. Looking back it was actually pretty hard for a first find, three and a half stars. Then you needed to buy a GPS because even the most sophisticated phones did not have them. Therefore, the people geocaching were mildly devoted, due to the fact that it took a financial commitment to buy a GPS.
When I hid this cache I knew nothing about the game. I hid the cache in a very special place to me , which at the time was nothing like it exists now. I ran cross country here for four years at Paul the VI, and made many found memories here. I had barely found 5 caches and thought I knew a lot. I may not have found that many now in my career, but after spending so much time following it the past six years, I learned quite a bit. Anyway, I hid this cache with my dad and pretty much forgot about it until recently. I got the emails and checked the updates but as far as geocaching was concerned, I had taken a hiatus. (I sincerely apologize for disregarding them. I realize now how frustrating that might have been)
I moved to MD almost two years ago and for some unknown reason the spark of geocaching has twitched in my brain. Now I have a GPS in my phone and have access to the entire database where ever I go. It was not until recently that I even thought about the “Eagle’s Nest” Cache. My Dad (Chooch614) recently purchased a smart phone and I asked him if he remembered the first trip back? He said he had, so I sent him back to the cache to disable it for rehab.
A total geo-novice, he found the cache and called me in pure excitement. It was intact and the log looked great. We had such a great time reading all of the entries. I realize how great the personal messages are. So many times I have written “TFTC” and moved on. And that fine, it was cool to see all of those. However, it was the notes, pictures, and personal messages that shocked us. From this moment, I make a attempt to write a little something in every cache that lets me.
My Dad has since refurbished the cache and I have edited this listing to, to tell it’s story, and help others who hope to find it in the future. He has re-painted the original cache, replaced the log, and replenished the swag. He has placed it in the exact same spot, which it has rested the past six year.
Tips (advice from the review of previous logs:
This cache is not easily accessible (or at all, after a point) in the spring, summer, or early fall. Due to stickers and overgrowth.
Even though this park is very dog friendly, the terrain is not.
You can park on MacArthur Blvd. Do not attempt this cache from the Paul VI High School fields.
Thank you so much to all the people who have searched this cache before. Maybe we will see you again. Your notes and messages brought us back to the sport. I look forward to reading the messages left here in the future. This cache holds a special place for us.
