Geocache Description:

I enjoy ancient Roman history and after seeing this location in Chickies Rock Park(hours dawn to dusk). It started me thinking of the Tarpeian Rock on the Hill Capitoline in the ancient city of Rome that overlooked the Roman Forum. It was used as an execution site in ancient times. Please use caution when locating this cache, you will be near a cliff, so use your good sence. The reward is a senic view.

The Tarpeian Rock (rupes Tarpeia) was a steep cliff of the southern summit of the Capitoline Hill, overlooking the Roman Forum in Ancient Rome. It was used during the Roman Republic as an execution site.
The cliff takes its name from the tale of the Vestal Virgin Tarpeia, who betrayed the Romans by letting the Sabines in through the gates after being promised to receive what they 'bore on their arms'. Naturally she hoped for their golden bracelets, instead she was crushed to death between their shields. Her body was buried atop the cliff, giving it its name.

This is a popular place, so be stealthy. Rocks can be slipery when wet. The cache will take you close to the cliff, But Not Near The Edge. If you go closer, it's at your own risk. Not suitable for small childern. Just be careful everyone. There is a nice view here.
