Across The Creek Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

badlands: Caches on KCFP owned/managed property now require a permit. No problem there, but one of the regulations requires that the cache owner physically check the cache every 30 days. As I do not feel that I can commit that amount of time to checking on caches, I'm reluctantly archiving this cache.

This cache has been removed from KCFP property.

Thanks to all those who visited and to all the wonderful logs you've written. Your appreciation made the effort to place and maintain these caches worthwhile.

Geocache Description:

Medium size Lock n' Lock. Just a warm up - don't worry you'll get to cross the creek again further down.

This group of caches is located in the Kane County Johnson Mound Forest Preserve.

Please take note; there are no established trails where these caches are located. Although there isn’t any significant elevation change, this is a wilderness area and the area along the creeks does flood and can be very wet or even under water at times. This area is not suitable for small children. Please plan accordingly so that this can be an enjoyable adventure.

There is no established parking for these newer Forest Preserve acquisitions but parking along the road (as long as you’re not on the road) is permitted per the Elburn Officer who was called by a concerned citizen when my car was parked there for several hours. (It may be advisable to leave a phone number on the dash just in case.)

Please take a moment to print out a copy of the aerial with Johnson Mound Forest Preserve boundaries marked as the access and passage to the areas beyond are narrow.

Please stay off of private property and off of the leased farm fields. This is a wonderful area to explore but if cachers are taking shortcuts through private property, the caches will have to be removed in deference to the rights of the property owners.

I hope you enjoy hunting these caches as much as I enjoyed placing them. I apologize in advance for all the “micros in the woods” but as the area floods there really weren’t many options for full size containers.
