Geocache Description:

The coordinates published are for a trailhead leading up to the Tafelberg Plateau in the Cederberg Wilderness area. The mountain rises 6455ft above mean sea level and lies in one of the most rugged mountain ranges in South Africa. This hike is generally considered difficult especially if you are carrying heavy hiking packs. From Welbedacht or Drie Hoek it will be an 8 hour return hike excluding time spent at the top. If you come from Sandrift it would be advisable to spend the night in the Spout Cave.

The Cederberg is a place of extreme weather conditions. I have been up there in temperatures of +40C and also when the temperature has been -10C with snow and ice everywhere. There is an old saying... 'There is no such thing as bad weather... just bad gear!', so be warned!

With this in mind, some essentials would include warm waterproof clothing, sunscreen and plenty of water.

The cache container is approx 20cm x 15cm x 5cm. Please take your own pen when visiting this cache.

IMPORTANT: You will need a valid permit for each member in your group. These can be obtained from the Cape Nature tourism reservation office. They can be contacted on:
