Geocache Description:

An easy uphill walk in the woods

Cache is a 30 cal. ammo box painted camo with a WV State Parks Geo sticker on it. All kinds of stuff inside. Brass tag for the FTF.

Sunday morning, the 25th of August, 1861, Col Albert Gallatin Jenkins and about 175 soldiers were ambushed very near this spot by men of the 11th Ohio Infantry, Col. Joseph Frizell commanding.
There is a paper in the cache that goes into a little more detail about what happened here.

This is another in my Civil War series of hides and again I thank my friend Tim McKinney for letting me butcher his fine book The Civil War in Fayette County West Virginia. Hope y'all enjoy the hunt.
