The cache is an ammo box located at the end of a street.
This cache is placed as a part of the Northern Armstrong County Cache Avalanche of 2008 or NACCA 2008. During ACCA 2008 some 15 or more caches was placed in mostly the northern part of the county in an initiative to introduce several new and sometimes challenging caches in the area.
It just made sense to us to put a cache here since we also placed on at the other end of Main Street in Dayton. As you progress down the street however it soon start to look not so much like a town road but more like, well, outside town. Which it is. Besides, our TomTom says it’s Main Street and we’re not about to argue the point.
You may not be able to drive all the way to the cache, Main Street or not. If it looks like the car may have problem making the last part of the trip it most likely won’t. So don’t. Besides there’s no good place to turn around by GZ anyway. Trust us, we know. The closest to the cache that we know for sure you will be able to turn around is at about N40 52.870 W79 13.213. These are not so much parking coordinates as they are turn around coordinates. This will put you about 1/3 of a mile away from the cache.
It will still be a nice walk though and during summer there are a plentiful of berry bushes and even wildlife along the last part of Main Street. The cache is well hidden but since you know what you are looking for it shouldn’t be too much trouble.
Lastly, a recommendation; even if you for some reason decided to drive all the way down to GZ DO NOT continue on the road after the bridge not matter what your GPS is trying to tell you. Main Street ends here (it really does) and the dirt road continuing leads to nothing but trouble. Don’t ask, just take our word for it!
And last-last; PLEASE put the cache back and hide it like you found it. Even if you get your shoe wet...
