Geocache Description:

St. Mary & St. Peter, Wilmington

The church was founded in about A.D. 1000 to serve the Saxon settlement of Wineltone, as Wilmington is recorded in the Domesday Book. The Benedictine Priory just next door was at one time connected by a covered cloister walk and founded in about A.D. 1100. The yew tree in the churchyard is quite a sight, being held up by chains and supports. Some say it is over 2,000 years old.

The above coordinates will take you into the graveyard where you will find a bench with a plaque in memory of Helen Mary Cardwell ABCD - EFGH. The cache can be found at:

N50 48. H (H-D) (G-D)
E000 11. G (E+C) (E+C)

It is recommended that you do this cache at the same time as Church Micro #195 Wilmington II.
