Having regard to the location of this cache, I thought it rather appropriate to list it on Good Friday, 2008. The listed co-ordinates are of the parking area at the front of the Church. The Cemetery is about 50 metres back from the Sturt Highway. This is a very quick and easy Multi with the cache located within 25 metres of Pastor Fuhlbohm's grave site.
The Church
Commuting weekly to Adelaide for work for the past three and a half years I've driven passed this church twice every week and have often wondered about its history and why it was built where it is.
According to the commemarative plaque, the church was built in 1913 and it continues to be used to this day. The church building and its immediate surrounds are very well maintained.
The School
This was also the site for a shcool which was also built in 1913. At that time this area was known as Holder. The school was renamed Lowbank during 1931 and closed in April 1942. The school building is not as well maintained as the church building.
It appears that the Waikerie Branch of the National Trust inadvertently transposed the year in which the school opened in the initial commemarative plaque and rather than replace that plaque, added another plaque with just "Correction 1913" inscribed on it.
The Cemetery
The Australian Cemetries website has comprehensive details (as at 2006) of those that are buried at the cemetery, some of the more prominent family names include Kalisch, Kuchel, Paschke, Schmidt, Schultz and Traeger.
In order to find the final co-ordinates for this cache you will need to find the grave of Pastor Theodor Johannes Fuhlbohm who was the Pastor of the Lowbank Parish between 1942 and 1952.
