There are 10 Hancock Shaker Village caches located along a loop trail that goes over Shaker Mountain (also known as Mt Sinai). All caches are named after Shakers or people very close to the Shakers.
The area is posted. Hancock Shaker Village has been great to work with and has given us permission to hide caches on their property plus let us hike thru the posted area to get to the caches on the State Forest property. Please keep in mind that this is private and historical property, so do not destroy anything while looking for a cache!!!
If you are hiking between 9:30A and 4:30P, HSV requests that you begin your walk by checking in at the Hancock Shaker Village Visitor’s Center or Village Store. There is no fee. This is not necessary during other hours. While you are checking in, please ask for a free copy of the Boy Scout Trail Guide which is a great map with lots of historical info about the cache area.
If you do the whole loop you will be crossing 2 brooks which may be interesting to cross after heavy rains or during snowmelt.
You can park at N42 25.896 W073 20.398. Hike up the dirt road. There is a bridge at about .52 miles.
