Fern Gully Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

wykenwizard: Decided to archive as this cache was on the driveway to a farmhouse. It has been a good cache, found by many, but it has had its day.

Geocache Description:

FERN GULLY

The wykenwizard and his accomplice, Auntie Clockwise, usually hide caches with a simple puzzle to solve and the caches are generally pretty easy to find. This one, however, may be more challenging.

The puzzle is still quite simple, but from then on it gets a little more difficult. There is another stage to solve before you get the co-ordinates for the actual location of the cache. Even the cache itself will not be easy to find. You are warned that the camouflage makes the cache very difficult to spot. It will be wise to remember that it is all in the title.

This is a multi cache.  Solve the following clues, which will take you to a safe parking spot for stage one.

N52, then:

1.   In which year was the Falklands War? (4th digit)

2.   Mount Godwin-Austen is better known by which name?

3.   In Greek mythology who was Apollo's twin sister? (No of letters)

4.   What number does 'storm' equate to on the Beaufort Scale of wind force?  Subtract 1 from your answer

5.   How many pockets does a billiard table normally have?

W001, then:

6.   XL

7.   What year did the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France open?   3RD digit

8.   How many humps does a Dromedary camel have?

9.   What type of fruit is a McIntosh? (No of letters)

When you arrive at this destination you will find the means to work out the co-ordinates to find the final cache, which is the usual air and watertight container within a camo bag, though this time a little more craftily hidden. You have been warned!

N52, then:

a)  Left hand top multiplied by 5 plus 2

b)  Left hand bottom on its own

c)  Bottom right minus 8

d)  Middle bottom minus 9

W001, then:

e)   Left hand top on its own

f)   Top right minus top middle

g)   Top middle added together

h)   Left hand bottom on its own

i)    Middle bottom on its own.

It is only a short distance to a safe parking spot close to the final location, (it is possible to walk, but the road is busy and could be dangerous especially for children) You are advised to drive there for safety reasons. The walk from this parking area to the cache site could, if necessary, be done after work in a suit and shoes!

GOOD LUCK !
