Welcome to Jurassic Park Traditional Cache
Pinfold: Looks like it's gone west as they say. I'll archive this cache in the hope that somebody parks an Earthcache here, it's easier to 'maintain' and shouldn't go missing. The area is geologically interesting so it's a gift for an Earthcache.

A cache in a quarry near the village of Holwell. Easy to get to. Park at N52 48.274 W00 54.063.
The cache is located in Brown’s Hill Quarry Nature Reserve. The former ironstone workings are now a splendid sanctuary for wildlife and rare plants. The ironstone is also exposed and a wealth of Jurassic era fossils can be seen in the rock formations. There’s a no-hammering/no-taking policy so the minerals can be preserved for generations to come.
It’s not a place for dogs either as they are forbidden to enter the reserve, but it really is a nice place to arrive at on a cycle as it’s near national cycle routes. The nearby abandoned railway that once carried the stone is also a nature reserve and dogs are allowed on this part.
It’s a really interesting place and the quarry has a number of plaques to explain the geology and natural history of the area.
The area is quite well muggled but you can always pretend to be looking for fossils and not attract too much attention. I took my youngest lad (aged 4) into here and he thought it was a great place.
