I Say "Po-Tay-Toe" You say "Pah-Tah-Toe" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wizard of Ooze: Hello,
I’m a volunteer reviewer for geocaching.com. In a routine check of area caches, I see that your cache has been missing for an extended period of time. The geocaching guidelines include a section on disabled caches: http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance

You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to ensure it is in proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.), or posts a Needs Maintenance log. Temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have addressed the problem. You are permitted a reasonable amount of time – generally up to 4 weeks – in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing. If you decide not to replace a missing cache, please archive the listing.

I’ve archived your listing to make way for new, active caches to be placed. If you would like to resubmit a new cache at the location, please feel free to do so and it will be reviewed according to the current geocaching guidelines.

Thank you for your contribution to geocaching,

Geocache Description:

This cache is in a easy terrain area with lots of parking nearby.  The idea of the cache is not to be too hard to find but a good place for the Spuds to start their adventure.

I Say "Po-Tay-Toe" You say "Pah-Tah-Toe"

Here is what this cache is all about. Some people collect pins, some collect teaspoons, I collect Mr. Potato Heads.

I thought it would be a lot of fun to send some of them out on their own and see how far they get I started this cache.

The cache is the starting point for all the Mr. Potato Heads to launch into great unknown!

Each Potato Head has a unique name the is used to track him. I've created a Web Site at www.spudontherun.com  to keep track of each Potato Head.  Everyone who finds a Potato Head is asked  to record the information of where they found him and where the left him and even share a picture if they want.

With each jump the Potato Head makes I will update the page and record the total distance that Potato Head has traveled.

Right now I have a total of 11 small Potato Heads that I will send out on adventure. I will put 3 of them in the cache to start and as each one is recorded on the website I will place another in the cache.

The container is a medium sized Lock 'n Lock.

The initial contents consist of:

  • 3 Small Potato Heads, Julian Fry, Tate R. Gem and Ida O. Potato.
  • A Silver Thermal Blanket
  • A copy of on  Charlie's Angels DVD
  • A Scan Radio
  • Some Potato Tattoo's (don't ask!)
  • And some miscellaneous other stuff!

Happy Caching and Good Luck!

This cache is located in a very easy area to get to and there is plenty of parking nearby. This can be a rather Muggle heavy area depending on the time of day so try to be inconspicuous.

The Potato Heads started to travel but it has been a long time since I have a report for any of them. Because of this I have taken the spudontherun.com website down. A Potato Head may still make it into the cache from time to time but I will no longer be tracking them.
