Important: Posted coordinates are a group of painted rocks familiar to most Bethel high school boys, up high on top of an overlook with view toward eastern Bethel. [high school] This is NOT final cache location. Problem is finding an easy way up there.
Official parking is at: 41 22.870 73 24.253 This is entrance to: East Swamp Wildlife Mgmt. area, hunting during season permitted. Most Bethel residents are unfamiliar this exists! From here, do not attempt to chase GPS needle straight to cache site…steep cliff and swampy area gets in the way. Best way is to study topo maps and Google earth satellite pix to get a “feel” for this area. The cache site is near, but a safe distance away from cliff edge and painted rocks. One needs to solve puzzle in order to convert following to obtain cache site latitude and longitude. N =735.7603 W = 1305.0631 A good calculator with lots of digits needed for best accuracy.
